I recently shared some advice for new engineering students. The article received a lot of great comments for readers, who shared their own tips -- including the importance of taking classes outside of the traditional engineering curriculum, such as public speaking and business. Today, I’d like to share a few more tips with you.
Take notes
Let’s face it, sitting in class and listening to a professor talk can be boring. One of the reasons it’s boring is that you’re not doing anything -- that is, unless you’re taking notes. The physical act of taking notes transforms you from a passive listener to an active participant. Keeping yourself occupied by taking notes may keep you from daydreaming or getting distracted.
